Saturday afternoon meditation classes for newcomers, run by the West Kent Buddhist Group.
We will be teaching both of our main practices
- the Mindfulness of Breathing and
- the Metta Bhavana (Cultivation of Loving Kindness).
If you are new to meditation or would like a refresher this is a great opportunity to learn under the guidance of an experienced teacher with plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions.
It's important to sit in a meditation posture that is comfortable, relaxed but upright. We can help you to find the posture which will work best for you, either on a chair or on meditation cushions on the floor. If you want to try sitting on cushions we recommend wearing something stretchy.
The class runs from 2 to 4:30 pm, but it is useful if you can aim to arrive around 1:45 so you can meet everyone and get set up.
Newcomers classes are currently being given free. However, donations are welcome on the day to help pay for the cost of the room.
OPEN TO EVERYONE*
(* we are sorry, but you have to be over 18 to attend our classes)
After attending one of these classes you may wish to deepen your practice and also learn about Buddhism by joining our regular Wednesday evening group.
