Saturday afternoon meditation class for beginners, run by the West Kent Buddhist Group.
We will teach both our main practices
- the Mindfulness of Breathing and
- the Metta Bhavana (the Cultivation of Loving Kindness).
If you are new to meditation this is a great opportunity to learn under the guidance of an experienced teacher. There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions.
Although the class is being held on separate dates, it will cover the same material each time. If, having attended once, you would like to deepen your practice and also learn about Buddhism, you are welcome to join our regular Wednesday evening group.
The class runs from 2 to 4:30 pm, but it is useful if you can aim to arrive around 1:45 so you can meet everyone and get set up.
It's important to sit in a meditation posture that is comfortable, relaxed but upright. We can help you to find the posture which will work best for you, either on a chair or on meditation cushions on the floor. If you know you are more comfortable in a chair with a cushion behind your back, bring one with you.
Beginners classes are being given free for the next 3 months. Donations are welcome on the day to help pay for the cost of the room.
OPEN TO EVERYONE*
(* we are sorry, but you have to be over 18 to attend our classes)
